The Cameron Parish Tourist Commission met in Regular Session on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at Lighthouse Bend Restaurant, Cameron, La. The meeting was called to order at 1:02 p.m. with Chairman, Stephanie Rodrigue, presiding. The Prayer was led by Mary Johnson, and the Pledge of Allegiance was led by Geralyn Myers.
COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Stephanie Rodrigue, Chairman; Carolyn Miller, Vice Chairman; Mary Johnson, Treasurer, Vicki Little, Geralyn Myers, and Michele Long, Secretary.
ABSENT: Joe Ann Labove
GUEST: Cindy Snead, Cameron Parish Beachfront Development District 1 Commissioner/Secretary
PUBLIC COMMENT: None
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Minutes of the previous meeting were distributed to all board members via electronic mail prior to the meeting and published in the Cameron Pilot. Upon motion by Carolyn Miller, seconded by Vicki Little and carried, the March 25, 2024 Minutes were approved as presented.
CORRESPONDENCE: The LOS Birders meeting is scheduled for April 26, 2024, at the Old Hackberry Community Center. Attendance numbers have risen, necessitating their purchase of extra meals. Additionally, Lamar Outdoor Advertising in Lake Charles has generously offered to replace the vinyl on the Creole Nature Trail billboard along Hwy 82 at cost.
TREASURER’S REPORT: Upon motion by Carolyn Miller, seconded by Geralyn Myers, and carried, the board accepted the 2024 March report as presented.
REVIEW AND PAYMENT OF BILLS: Upon motion by Mary Johnson, seconded by Carolyn Miller, and carried, the board approved payment of Louisiana Travel Association dues of $500.
OLD BUSINESS: Ratify Recurring Charges: Upon motion by Michele Long, seconded by Carolyn Miller, and carried, the board approved recurring charges for the Dev. Department and the Cameron Pilot.
Work Designs Tent Update, Business Cards, and Promotional Items:
Stephanie Rodrigue will carry on with her efforts to locate the graphics and photos for the tent panels.
Michele Long shared a mockup of the business card along with an estimated quote. Upon motion by Carolyn Miller, seconded by Geralyn Myers, and carried, the board approved purchase of 100 business cards per commissioner with revision adding QR code on the back from Works Designs.
Upon motion by Michele Long, seconded by Geralyn Myers, and carried, the board approved the purchase of the following promotional items: 500 pens, 2000 cooling towels, 1000 patriotic sunglasses, 1200 pet bags, 1000 keytainer, 1000 golf towels.
Upon motion by Vicki Little, seconded by Carolyn Miller, and carried, the board approves for Michele Long to purchase two six-foot tables and two six-foot table-cloths with the Cameron Parish logo from Wise Ideas.
Website/Trip Chat Advertising: Board members are tasked with compiling a list of area businesses with occupational licenses to be placed on the website and/or possibly Trip Chat.
Cameron Parish Day at the Capitol, Monday, April 29, 2024: Upon motion by Geralyn Myers, seconded by Carolyn Miller, and carried, the board approved travel, lodging, and meals for any commissioner who attends.
New Business:
Logo Shirts for members: On the motion of Mary Johnson, seconded by Geralyn Myers, Vicki Little will order the following: 6 navy, 2 black, 2 aqua blue shirts for commissioners.
Announcement: The Lighthouse Hayride is November 2, 2024. Additionally, Cameron Preservation Alliance will be added to “Any Updates.”
Adjournment: Upon motion by Carolyn Miller, seconded by Michele Long, and carried, the meeting adjourned at 3:05 p.m.
