Cecile Welch, 93, of Hackberry died on Wednesday, Mar. 8, 2023 in Lake Charles.

She was born on Jan. 2, 1930 in Manchester. In 1946, she married and moved to Hackberry. In 2021, she moved to Carlyss, where she lived for the past two years.

She is survived by her children, Ernest John Welch (Ruby) of Mittie, Evana Faye O’Quinn (Danny) of Sulphur, Martha Jane Pine (Ernest) of Sulphur, Glenda Ann Stelly (Timothy) of Sulphur, and Glenn Andrew Welch (Betsy) of Hackberry; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest “Tot” Welch; parents, Evana and Ferdinand Christ; and step dad, John Trump; three brothers; two sisters; and one grandson.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Peter The Apostle Catholic Church in Hackberry on Monday, Mar. 13, at 10 a.m., with Father Arvind Minz officiating. Burial followed at New Hackberry Cemetery in Hackberry under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Funeral Home.
