The Cameron Parish Port Harbor & Terminal District met in regular session on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at the Port Board Building, Cameron, Louisiana at 5:00 o’clock p.m.
Present: Howard Romero, Jennifer Picou, Tremayne Picou, Thomas Cox, Sheila Miller, Jimmy Brown
Absent: Nat Griffith, Alfred Devall, Nina Jones, Dwight Savoie
Guests: Scooter Trosclair – Rockefeller Refuge, Ian Trahan – Fenstermaker, Gus Fontenot – SWLA Alliance Committee, Bryon Richard – Lonnie, Harper & Associates, Coy Vincent – Gragson, Casiday, & Guillory, Eric Faust – USCG, Tunie Dunaway
Parish Agencies: Kim Montie, Port Director, Tianna Dunaway, Asst. Port Director, Tom Barrett, District Attorney, Butch Guidry- Cameron Parish Police Juror, Gary Johnson- Cameron Parish Police Jury.
The meeting was called to order by Chairman James Brown.
Thomas Cox led the Pledge of Allegiance and James Brown gave the invocation.
There was no public comment.
On the motion of Mr. Picou, seconded by Mr. Cox and carried the board approved the September 27, 2022 regular meeting minutes.
On the motion of Mr. Romero seconded by Mrs. Miller and carried the board approved the treasurer’s report.
On the motion of Mrs. Miller, seconded by Mr. Cox and carried the board approved payment of the October 2022 bills.
The Board reviewed the actuals and the budget.
Under correspondence the board reviewed a letter from CP2 LNG regarding preliminary geotechnical survey work as well as Timothy Dupont’s resignation letter. After reviewing Mr. Dupont’s resignation letter, Mr. Romero requested a thank you letter be sent to Mr. Dupont from the board.
There were no reports from commissioners.
There was no old business.
Under new business the board discussed sponsorship for the fur and wildlife festival, the BERM Project, the financial report and quickbooks.
On the motion of Mr. Romero seconded by Mrs. Miller and carried the board approved $1,000 sponsorship for the fur and wildlife festival.
Scooter Trosclair gave the board a presentation on the BERM Project. Discussion and public comment period occurred. The board agreed to fully support the project.
On the motion of Mr. Romero, seconded by Mr. Thomas and carried the board approved the 2021 financial review.
On the motion of Mr. Romero, seconded by Mr. Picou and carried the board approved the purchase of quickbooks.
Mrs. Kim Montie gave a staff report. She informed the board of discussions she has been having with the Corps of Engineers. She updated the board on both the GRP scenario building workshop and the meeting with the AOC applicants. She also informed them of the Lighthouse Bend project opening soon and the jackup rig structure project.
The next regular meeting will be scheduled for November 29, 2022, at 5 p.m. at the Cameron Parish Port Building.
There being no further business and upon motion of Mr. Cox seconded by Mrs. Miller and carried, the meeting was declared adjourned.
