Devan Temple

Devan Dean Temple, 23, a resident of Sulphur, was born in Lake Charles and died Friday, Aug. 31, 2018 at his residence in Sulphur.

He graduated from Barbe High School in 2013. He was an Ambassador for MDA and attended the MDA Camp and the Louisiana Lions Camp. He was also involved with the Lake Charles Fire Department Company One Central.

He is survived by his mother, Connie DeLong and husband, Stewart; father, Harold L. Temple, Jr. and wife, Karla; sisters, Samantha Higginbotham, Mattie Temple, and Morgan Temple; brother, Dylen Temple; and paternal grandmother, Hilda Billeaud Temple.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Harold L. Temple, Sr.; maternal grandparents, Melvin and Violet Byrd; and one brother.

Funeral services were held Monday Sept. 3, at Calvary Baptist Church in Sulphur. Pastor Steve Avera officiated. Interment followed at Hackberry Community Cemetery in Hackberry.

Samuel Armentor, Jr.

Samuel J. “Sam” Armentor Jr., 57, of Lake Charles, died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2018, in a local hospital.

He worked as a truck driver for GP Transport of Texas for over 15 years before moving back to Lake Charles.

He is survived by his wife, Lucinda Armentor; son, Dominique Martin of Colorado; daughter, Rachel Cooley of Lake Charles; sisters, Katherine Wright of Dry Creek, Cheryl Garza of Starks, and Brenda Woodard of Topsy; brothers, John Manny Armentor of Lil Chenier, James Armentor of Dry Creek, Ronald Lee Simmons of Leesville and Ronnie Edward Simmons of DeQuincy; and three grandsons.

His funeral service was held Saturday, Sept. 1, at Hixson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff. Burial followed in Old Ritchie Cemetery in Moss Bluff.
