Dorothy McWhirter

Dorothy Maude McWhirter Francis, 69, of Iowa died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2019, in a local hospital.

She was a native of Creole. She lived most of her life in Lake Charles. She worked as a secretary for many years for McNeese/Burton Coliseum, Louisiana State Police, Moss Regional Hospital, and presently at Moss Memorial.

Survivors include daughter, Holly Fruge and husband Chris of Iowa; and one granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Ellis and Leona McWhirter; and a brother,.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 16, at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Rev. Benigues Wego, SVD officiated. Burial followed in Highland Memory Gardens in Lake Charles.

Margaret Boudreaux

Margaret Christine Boudreaux, 75, of Bell City died on Sunday, Feb. 17, 2019, at a local hospital.

She drove a school bus for both Cameron Parish and Calcasieu Parish for over 20 years. She and her husband John moved to Bell City after losing their home in Creole to Hurricane Rita.

Survivors include her husband, John Boudreaux; children, Talton (Cindy) Johns, Veronica (Joey) Durrett and Joyce (Fred) Conner; stepchildren, Rita Boudreaux, Jim Boudreaux, Roger (Janell) Boudreaux and Marina Boudreaux; siblings L.J. Reeves, A.J. Reeves, Betty Alexander and Annie Chapman; 17 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Newton and Thelma Busby Reeves; son, Albert Lee Johns Jr.; granddaughter, Richelle La-Nae Boudreaux; and one sister.

A funeral service was held Wednesday, Feb. 20, at Johnson Funeral Home officiated by Rev. Alfred Gibson. Cremation was entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home.

Elizabeth Richard

Elizabeth Singletary Richard, 93, of Lake Charles Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2019.

She was born in Ruston. She was married to Leslie R. Richard and was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Cameron; member of the Cameron Parish Home Demonstration Club in Cameron where she resided for many years until moving to Lake Charles after her husband retired from the Cameron Parish Assessor’s office. She and her husband were members of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church after moving to Lake Charles and were contributors to Villa Marie Retirement Home. She was also a contributor to McNeese State University, where she set up Grant Funds for McNeese students, especially Cameron Parish students.

She was preceded by her parents, Ira and Lockett Singletary; husband, Leslie R. Richard; niece, Theresa Mudd; and great-nephew, Gregory Mudd.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, Feb. 21, at 10 a.m. at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Rev. Monsignor Harry D. Greig will officiate. Visitation will be at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles on Thursday from 8 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Consolata Cemetery.
