James Doxey

James “J.J.” Joseph Doxey, 58, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 28, 2018 at his residence.

He was born on Nov. 20, 1959 to parents Ulrich “B.B.” and Edna Gary Doxey. He was a community organizer of the Tenants Association at Chateau-du Lac; the co-editor of the High Risers Gazette; and the concession generated funds for parties and gifts to fellow seniors and/or disabled residents. Many people would go to him for advice or interpretation. He enjoyed making flower arrangements, crocheting, along with arts and crafts. James was known to tell a joke and could make you believe them. He enjoyed helping others and loved everyone he came in contact with.

He is survived by his caregiver, Minnie Goings of Lake Charles; four brothers, Clyde Doxey, Sr. and wife Leola, Hubern Doxey, Sr., Steven Doxey, Sr. and fiancée Rebecca Bailey, Robert “Sea Bob” Doxey, Sr. and fiancée Pat Saltzman, all of Cameron; a number of nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; and a great-great-niece.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one nephew, Clyde “Tootie” Doxey, Jr.; along with his dog, Bonnie Jean.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Cremation has been entrusted to Hixson Funeral Home. A special thanks to the many neighbors, friends, and Christian organizations who have offered prayers and support.

Lou Anna Guidry

Lou Anna “Pelet” Miller Guidry, 78, of Hayes died Monday, Jan. 29, 2018, at her home.

She was born and raised in Grand Chenier, then moved to Hayes in 1984. She helped her parents trap, sold Avon for many years and worked at Hacketts in Lake Charles. She was a member of Immaculate Conception and St. John Vianney Church in Bell City.

She is survived by her brothers, Frank Miller Jr. of Hayes, Joe Miller of Lake Charles, Butch Miller of Hayes, and John Miller of Lake Charles.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard R. Guidry; parents, Frank Miller Sr. and Ina Azena Swire Miller; and children, Keith Gerrard Guidry, Frank Anthony Guidry and Roxanne Louise Guidry.

Visitation will resume Thursday, Feb. 1, at 10 a.m. until time of precession at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at St. Eugene Catholic Church in Grand Chenier. Burial will follow at St. Eugene Cemetery.
