Part of Hwy. 27 renamed for Deputy Terry Cox

On Dec. 30, 1999, the Cameron Parish Sheriff's Office suffered its first and only death of a deputy on duty. Deputy Terry Cox, while outside of his patrol unit on a traffic stop in the Creole area, was struck by a passing vehicle and died of his injuries.
